DIFFERENCES OF AMERICAN AND BRITISH ENGLISH PRONOUNCIATION
Abstract
The American version goes back to the English language of the settlers who founded it in the 17th century. The first English colonies in Virginia and New England. The distinctive features of the American version are partly due to the fact that the American speech retains relict features in the field of phonetics, grammar and vocabulary, as well as its own innovations. In the XIX-XX centuries, these distinctive elements became the norm, and the English language in America received the status of an equivalent version of the English language.
